I, Artemis (Άρτεμις) was one of the most widely cherished of the Ancient Greek immortals. My Roman equivalent is Diana. Some scholars believe that the name, and indeed myself, was originally pre-Greek, "Artemis of the wildland, Mistress of Animals". The Arcadians (people of the region of Greece) believed I was the daughter of Demeter(the goddess of the harvest). In the classical period of Greek mythology, I was often described as the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo(god of light and the sun, truth and prophecy, healing, plague, music, and poetry). I was the Greek goddess of the hunt, wild animals, wilderness, childbirth, virginity and protector of young girls, bringing and relieving disease in women; I was often portrayed as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows. The deer and the cypress were sacred to me.
